A Substantial New RenovationThe New York City Seminar and Conference Center is nearing completion of the $100,000 renovation of the lower level portion of its Conference and Seminar Center facility at 71 West 23rd Street. The work includes enhancements to emergency fire and lighting systems, additional doors and means of egress from the main seminar hall to emergency exits and stairways, the addition of 5,000 square feet of storage space for events and exhibition operations, and the updating of the space to New York City Building Code Standards for public assembly space. Also anticipated is the completion of an ADA-compliant handicapped bathroom.Remaining to be done is the installation of new movable wall panel partitions, with embedded doors, allowing egress from the seminar hall, while maintaining the hall's flexible arrangements for seating groups of 30, 60, or 180 in classroom style and theatre configurations. NYCSCC recently completed a $75,000 renovation and remodeling of its fifth floor space in the summer of 2004, adding 3 large seminar rooms that can accomodate groups of varying sizes. The new Seminar Room A can fit 25 to 30 in seminar or boardroom style; Seminar Room B can accommodate groups of 10 to 15 in classroom or boardroom style, while the largest, Seminar Room C, can accommodate as many as 40 people in mixed boardroom and seminar style configurations. The lower level work, when completed, will increase the NYCSCC to over 15,000 square feet of space on two floors of our Chelsea headquarters, including 12 seminar rooms and halls, with the ability to service from 10 to as many as 180 people in a variety of seminar configurations. |
